I’m Ally.
I want to create work that combines my love for loving things with my love of connecting, communicating, and performing. I want to embrace and inspire whimsy while prioritizing my own enjoyment because I am my favorite comedian. I want to make art that centers the current moment and embraces the fact that I like to make everything a puzzle and try to solve it. I strive to lift and support others up as we can’t all be everything and I love to embrace my own shortcomings while filling in the gaps of other people.

ABOUT
Ally Montgomery (They/She/He) is a queer comedian and creator originally from Columbia, South Carolina (something she will talk about at length given the chance). Ally’s passion for comedy stems from their deep love and appreciation for theatre, which they regard as their first love, and led to them finishing high school away from home in the Drama Program at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. Since coming to college, Ally has written, performed, and produced shows at theatre across Chicago including The Annoyance, iO Theatre, and Lincoln Lodge. While her heart lies in performing, Ally prides herself on being a multifaceted creative with strengths across many fields including writing, directing, and visual design. Additionally, driven by her deep love for spreadsheets, Ally has taken on many producer and administrative roles, most notably being the Co-Executive Producer for MessFest Comedy Festival 2025 at The Annoyance Theatre and being a Comedy Arts Program Assistant where she designed a brand identity and social media presence for the program and professionally photographed dozens of comedy shows. While being a member of the Comedy Arts Program, Ally also completed a second major in Communications and Media with a focus on fandom and participatory culture. A lot of their comedy stems from their deep appreciation and knowledge of fan culture and spaces, including their solo shows A Night of Ally and Chronic Ally Online where they dissected their own relationship with fandom and the internet. Additionally, Inspired by the Robert Pattinson quote “there is a ballerina inside me” Ally completed a dance minor and she often choreographs for musicals and comedy shows in Chicago with the aim of spreading the joy of dance and helping others heal and bolster their relationship with the artform. In her free time, Ally enjoys experiencing the whimsy of the internet by running a stan twitter account and reading fanfiction. She also loves making increasingly complicated origami animals and attending as many concerts as she can afford.
